What The Hex?

Hex is a web design business with more than 10 years of online experience. No frills, no fluff, just plain old websites that look and work great.

Having a successful web presence starts with your image. That's our forte. No amount of marketing can take your product or service off without starting with the right image. Period.

Great design, functionality and ease of use are our core focus. Because that's what keeps your audience happy and engaged. Satisfied users equals more leads. Leads turns into customers, you get the idea.

Of course, there are more ingredients that makes a website successful, like content architecture, strategic layouts, trends, etc which we spent years honing, so that you don't have to. You should take care of your core business by doing what you do best, while we take care of the rest. Got a project? Let us know.

Who We Are

Ben knows no boundaries. He goes where his mind and his heart takes him. Being a self-taught designer and programmer gave him more wings to fly, which is such a success story in itself. He loves his codes and he loves his coffee.

Ben has grown immensely since starting Hex. From frontend to backend web technologies, from websites to web applications and iPhone optimized web applications, he has dabbled it in and used them for commercial projects as well as personal ones.

His big love of the web is his greatest asset, always open to new technology, always ready to adapt to new trends, this makes him so very versatile and his insights so very useful.

Trained in Visual Communication, Melly's previous tenure includes The Upperstorey and Yellow Octopus, both companies producing nothing but excellent work.

Apart from being meticulous and attentive to details, Melly also knows her clients and handles them well. She strives for originality each time she is set on any design work.

With a good eye for aesthetics, Melly is also able to turn a supposedly boring picture into good photography and complements them with her unpretentious tone of writing.

New year, new app - Cranked!
Posted on 2 January 2014

2013 has been a great year. Sendy has been a success for us, thanks to all who supported it by buying a copy and spreading the word.

We have our fourth app ready and it's called, Cranked! Cranked is a self hosted RSS reader where you can run it on your own server like Sendy without paying any monthly fees.

With Cranked, you can 'mobilize' any truncated articles, change fonts and sizes to your own liking and most importantly, sort articles by the best stories. Cranked uses social media metrics from Facebook and Twitter to determine the most popular stories and load them first when you click the toggle button called 'Crank up the feeds!'.

Check Cranked out, we hope you like it. Here's wishing you an awesome 2014!

We are on a roll, our third app!
Posted on 17 August 2012

Sendy baby, where have you been all this time? The answer to our email newsletter woes, Sendy is our latest app that sends trackable email newsletters 100x cheaper via Amazon SES (Simple Email Service). Yes, you read that right! Figuratively, that's 1 cent per 1000 emails.

We knew we couldn't be the only ones out there who thought email newsletters shouldn't have to cost so much. So we are sharing Sendy with you.

Meet our new app, MockVault
Posted on 6 June 2012

We are thrilled to share our second app, MockVault, with you. Akin to our first app–SUBERNOVA, which we built as a solution to manage our projects better–MockVault was created to improve the way we present our mockups.

With MockVault, it is so much easier to walk our clients through mockups without being face-to-face with each other. MockVault bridges that gap. It makes explaining easy to do and getting the message across a breeze.

MockVault has many features but our favourite has to be the Approve button! Why? While it really is just a button, somehow it works better than writing an email. Least that's what we've been told.

Available as a web app, all you need is a browser and an internet connection. So get your mockups annotated and get your designs approved! Go get MockVault.

Wishing you a bright and joyous new year!
